Our Minister
Susan Ritchie has served as Minister of our North
Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lewis Center Ohio (formerly known as the
Dublin UU Church) since 1996. Previous to that she served as the first
(interim) Associate Minister of First UU Columbus, which ordained her in
1995.
Sharing a
solid understanding and enthusiasm for liberal religious identity is important
to this life-long Unitarian Universalist.
Rev.
Ritchie is well-published on the topic of comparative religion, postmodern
theology, and Unitarian Universalist history, most recently in the Journal
of Unitarian Universalist History, the Journal of Liberal
Religion, the Journal of American Folklore, Seasons, the
Journal of the Zaytuna Institute for Islamic Studies, Everyday
Spiritual Practices, and Religion in Ohio. Collegium, the
association of Liberal Religious Scholars voted her scholarship as the "Best New
Research in Unitarian Universalism" in 2004.
Rev.
Ritchie holds a PhD. in Cultural Studies from the Ohio State University and a
Masters of Divinity from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
A former President of the Ohio Religious Coalition for
Reproductive Choice, she has led seminars for clergy of many denominations on
how to offer pastoral care to families and individuals making difficult
reproductive choices. She has served as volunteer chaplain for the
Capital Care Women's Center since 1995.
Favorite
recreations include family time with partner Donna, anthropomorphizing her
Springer Spaniel "Valentino," competitive amateur tennis, and ridiculously
ambitious gourmet cooking.
