Unitarian Universalist Congregation
The Wedding Service.
It is our belief that rituals are only significant in so far as they speak to
the individuals involved in them. Hence, one of our ministers will work
with you to write a ceremony unique to you. Services reflective of
different faith or cultural traditions are never a problem.
Requirements. We pride ourselves on offering
meaningful religious services to those persons who desire them without strings
attached. Couples choosing to marry here do not have to demonstrate any
particular religious affiliation or receive any special religious
instruction. We do like to meet with couples at least two to three times
before the service so that we might get to know each other, discuss any issues
you might have, and construct the service together. We are proud to
welcome and affirm same-sex union ceremonies.

Our
Facility. Our building is a beautiful civil-war era "country style"
church. The sanctuary is plain in design, with large windows and
turn-of-the-century pews. The sanctuary seats 140 persons, and decorates
very easily even with a minimal flower budget. Fellowship Hall, with
access to the kitchen, is also available for rent for receptions.
Fellowship Hall can accommodate about 60 persons for a sit down dinner, and more
with more casual arrangements.
Fees. The
sanctuary may be rented for your service for $100 plus $3 per number of people.
This includes access to the building on the day of your service, and also
rehearsal and decorating time. Fellowship Hall, with access to the kitchen,
rents for $100 plus $4 per number of people. Please inquire about specific
deposit and rental requirements. You need not use the services of our ministers
in order to rent the building.

Minister's
Fee. Our senior minister, the Rev. Dr. Susan Ritchie, charges $300 for
wedding services, which includes all meetings, the writing of the service, and
the ceremony itself. Commissioned Lay Leader, Teri Cornell, is also
available to perform wedding services. Special arrangements may be made in
the case of financial difficulty.
How to
Proceed. Please call the church (740-657-8081) to make an appointment
to see the minister and/or to view the facility.
