These days, 1 in 44 are being diagnosed with autism.  Learn what autism actually is when Thomas A. McKean presents “Understanding Autism” at the North Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

Review the history, symptoms, theoretical causes, and various treatments for autism.  Learn how the neurological sensory processing disorder affects the individual and increase your awareness and understanding of these complex differences.

Thomas A. McKean, a friend of NUUC, is a multiple award-winning international advocate.  He has written two books and appeared on Oprah.  A co-creator of both World Autism Awareness Month and the International Autism Puzzle Piece Awareness Symbol, Thomas has served on the board of the Autism Society of America, has consulted for families and schools across the US and Canada, has presented at numerous conferences, and has spoken to the Senate and Congress on disability advocacy, funding, and awareness.
