Your Pride!
Columbus' annual Gay Pride Parade will be held on Saturday, June 23. For the third "straight" year, NUUC's Social Action Committee invites NUUC members and friends to march behind our banner to show UU Pride in the parade.
Did you know that Ohio is dead last among all states in protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Ohioans? In most of Ohio, people can be fired from their jobs or denied housing because of their sexual orientation. Some religiously oriented Ohio groups continue to pressure legislators into preventing LGBT Ohioans from adopting or offering foster care. Although there are a few positive signs on the horizon, it's more important now than ever to show LGBT support and solidarity as a church community -- and what better way than by marching at the Pride Parade!
Marchers start lining up at noon at Goodale Park in Columbus. The parade starts at 1 p.m. and goes through downtown, ending at Bicentennial Park, where the Pride Festival is held. (Marching in the parade is free; if you want to also attend the festival, there is an admission fee.)Sign up to march by contacting Social Action Committee member Martha Filipic at tonymartha@columbus.rr.com or (740) 368-1629, or by signing up on the sheet in Fellowship Hall by Sunday, June 17.
To add to spirit, we'll have a sign-making party in Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21. Please RSVP (as above) by June 17 so we make sure we have enough materials for everyone.

Please Vote! On Sunday, June 10 a Congregational Meeting will be held after service to vote on Chris Jones-Leavy's request that this congregation ordain her. Please read the explanation which appears in Reverend Ritchie's article and as posted on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall about how this process works; it is extremely important. |

Building and Grounds Committee invites you to a
“Yard Clean-Up
Day” on Saturday, June 2 at 9:00am.
Bring your rakes
and weeding and trimming tools as we attack the spring weeds at the
church and Nielsen House. If you can’t commit to the whole
day,
even a short period of time will be appreciated. We then plan to put
designated areas up for “adoption” to individuals,
families and
groups to provide continuing summer care. For questions, contact
