Northern Light - The North Unitarian Universalist Congregation Newsletter July 2007

Call to Action:

Do you like to GOLF?  The NUUC Social Committee needs YOU to help coordinate a golf outing in July.

Contact Kristin Grimshaw at grimshaw@wowway.com or by phone at 614-840-1950 to volunteer to share your hobby with your fellow NUUC members.

The Membership Committee plans to publish a new NUUC Church Directory of Members of Friends in early July. If your information has changed since the last printing in January 2006, please contact Jeri Dill in the church office at 740-657-8081 or NUUCJDill@aol.com and/or be sure to verify your listing when asked (e-mail requests sent out June 13).

A few enthusiastic, UU-loving people are needed to serve on a new Communications Committee being formed to get the word out about our wonderful church, who we are and what we do here. A series of planning meetings will be held in the coming months; please contact Teri Cornell for further details - 614-891-5935 or imuuteri@yahoo.com.

The Social Action Committee is looking for volunteers to coordinate the annual NUUC-hosted Blood Drive in the fall. If you are interested in coordinating this event please contact Yvonne Clippinger at 614-889-5491 or  yclippin@columbus.rr.com.

August 5th is “Story Sunday” (similar to “Music Sunday”). You are invited to pick something meaningful to you to read and share. Bring Children's stories, poetry, song lyrics, short essays, or anything that inspires you!  Basic guidelines are as follows: items will be read from text rather than improvised on the spot, and readings should be 1 to 5 minutes in length.  (Be sure to practice reading your piece ahead of time to ensure you meet the time criteria!  Feel free to cut unnecessary portions to adjust for time.)  Please e-mail Kyle Yaggi (kyaggi82@yahoo.com) with your name, the title of what you want to read, and how much time you need to read it (1-5 minutes!). For more details regarding "Story Sunday" you may see other members of the Worship Committee: John Foreman, Scott Duncanson, or Ken Watts.  We look forward to hearing YOUR story!

All you friendly UU's out there....The Membership Committee is in need of greeters for Sunday mornings.  If you are available for a one month block of time to serve as a greeter from 10:10 a.m. until after the first hymn, please contact Gladys Dillemuth at  dgdill@columbus.rr.com or 614-761-3916 for information or questions.
