Many different faith traditions have understood Autumn as the best time to connect with the ancestors.  We do that in this worship in the spirit of this quote by Ralph Ellison:  “Some people are your relatives, but others are your ancestors, and you choose the ones you want to have as ancestors. You create yourself out of those values.”  We also introduce an ancestor ritual we will celebrate during worship on November 1.
