.Celebration of the Winter Solstice – “Fruitful Darkness”

Monday evening, Dec. 22, 2025

(gather at 6:45pm, celebration from 7:00pm to 7:45pm)

Beyond Words Covenant Group will be hosting a Celebration of the Winter Solstice at the church on Dec. 19th., Monday evening from 7:00 to approximately 7:45, led by Pam Spence and Laura Bergman. We take the time to celebrate the shortest day of the year which also marks the beginning of longer days as we circle back toward the sun, by creating our own small circle invoking a past time when we were villagers dancing around a bonfire.

The celebration is open to members of the church, friends and community members and is entirely inclusive. No matter which earth/nature – centric path you follow – whether you be Druid, Wiccan, neo-Pagan, or simply an eco warrior and bunny hugger – you are welcome. Attire is “dopamine dressing” so whatever makes you happy: sacred robes, costume, headpieces, comfy fleecies … entirely up to you.

What to expect: This is an “embodied” celebration so you can expect simple chants and movement. We create an altar with items representative of the 4 directions: East/air, South/fire, West/water and North/earth and participants are invited to bring items for the altar.

We will celebrate as well as food and drink (feel free to bring something for the groaning board, if you are inclined) before closing the circle and bidding each other adieu “merry meet and merry part and merry meet again.” Contact Pam Spence at pammy.spence@gmail.com or message me at 740 816 1904 for further information.
