Music
Live music is part of our worship every Sunday. We have our Music Director, Molly Watson, to thank for this! Molly coordinate and schedules live music year-round, as well as directing our choir. Molly has been an active choir member at NUUC for quite a few years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (saxophone) from Muskingum College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Communications from The Ohio State University, where she was a proud member of The Ohio State University Marching Band (TBDBITL), playing baritone horn. Molly’s music experience also includes singing in multiple choral groups, performing in musical theater, playing in community concert bands and a professional big band, and directing choir and bell choirs for 11 years at her previous church. She has a deep passion and commitment to the music program at NUUC. Molly and her husband Brent live north of Sunbury and own a specialty cut flower farm. She is the mother of two amazing adults, Isaac and Elena.
The type of music varies greatly and includes four-part classical choral harmonies, jazzy pieces, spirituals, Jewish songs in Hebrew, flute and piano duets, recorder solos, guitar hymn accompaniment, folksongs, some international hymns and folksongs, piano solos, small vocal ensembles, piano hymn accompaniment, and more!
From late September through early June, the Choir sings during nearly every Sunday service. During certain holiday weekends when many choir members are out of town, small ensembles and soloists from the congregation provide the music.
