With Banned Book Week upon us, today we celebrate the freedom of speech, and how it is an essential element of our religious journey.  This Sunday, we also celebrate a Book Communion.  For this Sunday’s Book Communion, you are invited to bring a book that has nourished you—spiritually, intellectually, or simply by bringing joy (it doesn’t need to be a banned book). During worship, we will gather these books on a shared table as a symbol of the wisdom and imagination that sustain us as a community. Everyone will be invited to choose a different book to take home, receiving in turn something that has fed another member of our congregation. Extra points if you can write a brief message in the front of the book about why it matters to you.  Please don’t bring more than one or two books per individual in your party, and please bring books for any age of person.  This is an all-ages worship; children and youth remain in the worship for the entire service.
