Rev. Susan Ritchie hosts the service and NUUC Affiliated Community Minister Rev. Joan Van Becelaere offers the message.
We have witnessed the astonishing growth of a movement for black lives and police reform in recent weeks. The quick rise of this movement and the diversity of those who participate in public witness have surprised many. We have seen lots of different movements rise and fall over the years. Will we have the collective courage to move on to create real change? How does a movement become majority opinion, policy and then established social expectation? What do we think the future will hold?
Rev. Joan VanBecelaere is the Executive Director of UU Justice Ohio which includes Ohio UU the Vote. She is also the Chair of the Registration Team of the Nonpartisan Ohio Voter Outreach Committee (NOVOC) and sits on the NOVOC Steering Team and Education Team. Before working for UUJO, she was Central East Regional Lead and the Ohio-Meadville District Executive. She lives in Columbus, Ohio, with her spouse, Jerry, and 4 furry felines all named after Hebrew Bible prophets and royalty.
