Letter from God Dropt in the Street

Not literal letters, of course.  But messages of awe and mystery to be found in every little, and big, thing around us, waiting right in front of our noses, in every moment, in every creature and object, for us to see and feel and wonder about.  Walt Whitman, New England poet of the mid nineteenth century, says it perfectly in his long poem: Song of Myself, part of the volume called Leaves of Grass.  Some consider Whitman to have been describing a new religion.

Preaching today is the Reverend Alison Wohler, a member of NUUC, and the Minister Emerita of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst, MA, where she spent 11 years.  She retired to the Columbus area to be closer to family and Chautauqua.  Currently she is a member of several UU congregations and the treasurer of the UU Fellowship of Chautauqua.  She “preaches around,” and loves that she still gets to create worship. Alison lives with her partner, Milt Harris, and their two cats.  Her 99 year old father recently lived with her but moved to Westerwood Assisted Living in October.   Some of her favorite things are gardening, flower arranging, sailing, kayaking and hiking – three of which she does not get to do much of any more.
